Yoga Basics for Beginners & Alignment Review for Continuing Levels is both  for new beginners as an introduction to the Iyengar method and appropriate for continuing beginners for step-by-step instruction on the fundamentals of body alignment in the poses. It does not matter how out of shape or inflexible one is to begin yoga. The best way to learn yoga is with a qualified teacher, who can give you proper guidance, answer your questions and show how to adapt the poses specifically for your body. This class is an excellent opportunity for continuing level students who wish to refine and review basic alignment cues. All required props are provided.

Improve your flexibility, reduce stress, lubricate your joints, enhance your immune system and increase spinal flexion and extension with functional stretching. Promote well-being, balanced strength and mental focus while integrating conscious breathing into your practice.  Concise, systematic instruction allows students to perform each stretch in an anatomically intelligent way to avoid injury or pain. Props will be introduced to maximize safe progression and support. All Levels welcome.

Iyengar Yoga for continuing students who practice inversions regularly or interested in starting to practice them. This faster paced,  mixed level class encourages students to cultivate a consistent, personalized,  and informed practice enabling the student to benefit from the powerful effects of yoga. This classintroduces students to a range of poses including beginning forward and back extensions as well as twisting postures and the beginnings of inversions.  The Power of Practice deepens the students' awareness and experience of the more subtle and profound aspects and effects of asana. Having attained a level of stability and ease, students hold asanas for longer periods of time and begin the journey to reflection and meditation in asana.

Room is heated for this slow-flow class. Mindful awareness and attention to alignment is given as we slowly flow through various sequences designed to take you through all ranges of motion and provide a safe, effective method for learning Sun Salutations and key poses to strengthen and stretch.  Breath practice and meditation at the end can strengthen the nervous system and  lift up your energy creating a transformative practice to aid you in feeling more alive.  All levels welcome and encouraged.

This class will provide you with a gentle approach to a daily routine for both strengthening and creating suppleness in the back muscles. Learn how to modify your Yoga practice while recovering or dealing with an illness or injury whether it be skeletal or systemic. Each class will be tailored to participants by addressing specific areas of concern. K-Lea has studied with  Dr. Mary Schatz, author of “Back Care Basics”, Chris Saudek, PT and Senior CIYT and Dr. Lois Steinberg, author of several Yoga Therapy books.
